What if I have an emotional reaction during our session?

The decision to seek pelvic health treatment isn’t easy. You might not even be sure how you feel about the process yet. And you will likely unearth some stuff as we work together.

It is very common for emotions to come up during a session. Sometimes you’ll feel an emotional release or a sense of freedom. Other times, you might feel grief or sadness. To explore the pelvis is to decide to get into the messiness of all of these emotions. In this space, tears, laughter, and swearing are always welcome!

If you find yourself overwhelmed by emotion in a session together, know that I will hold space for whatever you need, without judgment or discomfort. You might struggle to identify what you need in the moment, and that’s okay too. You are trusting me to guide you, and I will do everything I can to help you leave feeling grounded and ready to enter the outside world. I also welcome feedback on your experience, during that session or after the fact. In knowing more, I can be aware of how to best support you in the future!

It’s important to know that what comes up during our sessions could spill into the rest of your life. If you already have an established relationship with a trusted mental health therapist, you will likely feel more prepared to explore the pelvic work. This is especially true if you’ve experienced trauma that could be activated during our time together.
